Applications are now being accepted for the 2009-2010 Shinshin Toitsu Gakuen.

The Shinshin Toitsu Gakuen is a three year program designed to provide students with an unparalleled introduction to Ki Development and Ki Aikido. Calmness, relaxation, and power (as opposed to force) in our Aikido and in our daily life is a function of confidence and clarity. Beginning with our most fundamental principles, the Gakuen will systematically walk youthough our complete curriculum of development leaving you clear and confident in your understanding of the art and in your ability to share that understanding with others. The program is ideal for students who have an interest in teaching Aikido or incorporating Ki principles into other disciplines, as well as those interested in deepening their understanding of Ki Aikido and their personal practice of the art.

When you successfully complete the first year of the Shinshin Toitsu Gakuen, you will be someone who:

1. Has a notable level of presence, calmness and balance.
2. Can clearly demonstrate the Kaisho and Gyosho forms of basic Aikido techniques with clarity and control.
3. Is at home and comfortable teaching the four basic principles to others and is confident in your ability to give someone a personal experience (ki ga tsuku) of mind-body oneness.
4. Is skilled at giving the first ki test—providing a partner with clear feedback to the question “where is your mind?”
5. Is at home and comfortable reading Shokushu, leading Hitori waza, and leading the Oneness Rhythm Exercise.
